In this post we look at what stable snow looks like to the Lyte probe. Mores Creek Summit for those who dont know is a relatively low elevation ski location near Boise. The base elevation around 6000 feet (1850m) above sea level. When we went out, it had been about 8 days since our last snow and with moderate temps resulted in a cohesive, right side up snowpack. The snowpack was just at 62 inches (158cm) deep where we performed our tests. Here you can see the probe accurately captures the stable nature of the snowpack.
